Bob Dylan 2005 Never Ending Tour
Touring Band
Bob Dylan: vocal, electric keyboard (piano), harmonica
Stu Kimball: lead guitar
Denny Freeman: electric and acoustic guitar
Donnie Herron: violin, mandolin, pedal steel guitar
Elana Fremerman: violin (first leg only)
Tony Garnier: bass
George Recile: drums
Europe has to wait till the fall to see Dylan. The US are first with a spring tour together with Merle Haggard and a summer tour with Willie Nelson. Dylan plays Merle Haggard’s Sing Me Back Home several times, but Haggard never joins Dylan on stage. Willie Nelson does join Dylan once, on vocal & guitar on Hank William’s You Win Again. After a short Canada & US Summer North West Tour in July, Dylan tours Europe in October and November.
Just like a year earlier, the band is subject to changes. Larry Campbell is replaced by Denny Freeman on guitar and Donnie Herron on violin, mandolin and pedal steel guitar. Elana Fremerman plays violin and leafs after the show from April 22. Dylan’s voice deteriorates, he tries to cover it up with his typical up singing and, even worse, down singing at the end of each line.
No changes in the set structure.
Some releases this year: Live At The Gaslight 1962; The Bootleg Series Vol. 7: No Direction Home: The Soundtrack; The Martin Scorsese film (DVD) No Direction Home.
