Bob Dylan 1999 Never Ending Tour

Touring Band:
Bob Dylan: vocals, electric and acoustic guitar, harmonica
Bucky Baxter: (
January – May) pedal steel guitar, lap steel guitar, electric & acoustic slide guitar, dobro, mandolin, back-up vocal. Baxter left the band after more than seven years and 731 shows.
Larry Campbell: electric and acoustic guitar, back-up vocal, fiddle, pedal steel guitar, lap steel guitar, electric & acoustic slide guitar, dobro, bouzouki, mandolin
Charlie Sexton: (from June) electric and acoustic guitar, back-up vocal
Tony Garnier: double bass and bass guitar
David Kemper: drums & percussion

Again an extensive year with a tour containing five legs, and again with some support: a US winter tour; Europe spring tour; US summer and fall tour, both with Paul Simon, and a US fall tour with Phil Lesh and Friends.
After two shows the structure changes drastic with more acoustic than electric songs. Dylan opens with an acoustic set of 5-6 songs, followed by 4-6 electric songs and 1-5 encores. The arrival of all-rounder Charlie Sexton is a major improvement to the sound. Dylan grows to great heights as the year progresses. The countless (new) covers that he plays often form the highlights of the shows.
