Bob Dylan

1997 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 94 shows, 101 different songs played, 14 live debuts
Touring band: Bucky Baxter (pedal/lap-steel guitar/mandolin); Tony Garnier (bass); John Jackson (guitar); Winston Watson (drums); David Kemper (drums). John Jackson was replaced by Larry Campbell after the first (Japan) of six (!) legs.
A new album, Time Out Of Mind, was recorded and released. At the end of may Dylan is admitted to hospital in Los Angeles with histoplasmosis, an infection near the heart. The European summer tour is cancelled. After that touring continues in the same pace as before, and includes a performance for the Pope in Bologna.
In the European fall tour, a change took place in the structure of the set list. The abundance of songs from the 60s made way for newer material. His voice further affected by the disease has a limited range now.
