2011 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 89 shows, 64 different songs played
Touring Band: Bob Dylan (guitar, keyboard, harp); Tony Garnier (electric and acoustic bass); George Recile (drums); Stu Kimball (rhythm guitar); Charlie Sexton (lead guitar); Donnie Herron (electric mandolin, violin, pedal steel, lap steel).
Bob Dylan turns 70, but still going strong. The year opens with controversy about his first concerts ever in China. According to some media his shows were censored by Chinese government. According to Maureen Dowd from the New York Times, The Times and Blowing in the Wind were forbidden and Dylan decided not to play Hurricane. Well, the last time Dylan played Hurricane was in 1976; the other two song were seldom or not on the set list previous years. Dylan opens in Beijing and Shanghai with the totaly rewritten bluesgospel, Gonna Change My Way Of Thinking.
The second tour in Europe opens with a set of Mark Knopfler. Knopfler plays with Dylan in several shows and sings with Dylan on the last song of the tour, Forever Young. Dylan plays no encores this tour.

2013 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 85 shows, 60 different songs played
Touring band: Bob Dylan (piano, harp, vocals); Tony Garnier (electric and acoustic bass); George Recile (drums); Stu Kimball (rhythm guitar, maracas); Duke Robillard (electric lead guitar), replaced by Charlie Sexton after a short time; Donnie Herron (violin, banjo, electric mandolin, pedal steel, lap steel).
A radical change in the Never Ending Tour. It's done with the ever changing set lists which often confuses his band members. With a few radical exeptions (the explanation for the 60 different songs played) Dylan plays a standard set list. Very witty, Dylan opens almost every concert (the coming years) with Things has Changed. The rather short set list, with 14 songs plus 1 encore from the 2 American legs, gets an upgrade to 17 (with intermission!) and 2 encores in the European leg. The resul: stable shows with a solid playing band. Songs of this century in general and Tempest in particular constitute the majority.
Most importantly, for the first time in years, Dylan is really singing again with a rather pure, stable voice. Often centre stage, with or without harp. He is at ease standing (or sitting) at grand piano.
Duke Robillard is, after a short time, replaced on lead guitar in the second leg by good-old Charlie Sexton.

Touring band: Bob Dylan (piano, harp, vocals); Tony Garnier (electric and acoustic bass); George Recile (drums); Stu Kimball (rhythm guitar, maracas); Charlie Sexton (lead guitar); Donnie Herron (violin, banjo, electric mandolin, pedal steel, lap steel).
No changes in the first American leg, apart from the ever changing arrangements and lyrics. In the first European leg 18 song plus 2 encores. Sad Songs and Waltzes, I'm A Fool To Want You & That Lucky Old Sun are played once. Special, shorter set list for festivals.
In the second European leg Dylan introduces new songs and outtakes from the Shadows in the Night-project. Seven covers every night in a setlist of 20 songs, to much for a lot of complaining fans. In total Dylan playes 10 different covers: Autumn Leaves; The Night We Called It A Day; Why Try To Change Me Now; I'm A Fool To Want You; Full Moon And Empty Arms; Come Rain Or Come Shine; All Or Nothing At All; Where Are You?; What'll I Do; Melancholy Mood.
Standard setlist in almost all shows: Guitar intro; 1. Things Have Changed; 2. She Belongs To Me; 3. Beyond Here Lies Nothin'; 4. What'll I Do; 5. Duquesne Whistle; 6. Melancholy Mood; 7. Pay In Blood; 8. I'm A Fool To Want You; 9. Tangled Up In Blue. (intermission) Guitar intro; 10. High Water (For Charley Patton); 11. Why Try To Change Me Now; 12. Early Roman Kings; 13. As the year progresses, Dylan plays less and less piano. He ends with 5 songs on grand piano; rest center stage, with harp sometimes.

Dylan starts with a tour in Japan, 16 concerts, most in Tokyo. Same standard set list as previous year, with one extra song before the intermission in slot 9. That extra song is another cover, the debut of That Old Black Magic (Harold Arlen/Johnny Mercer). This song is from the may 20th released new album Fallen Angels from the same project as Shadows In The Night, which features standards made famous by Frank Sinatra. That makes eight covers each concert.

US Fall Tour (29 shows) starts at the six-day classic rock festival Desert Trip. Gone is the intermission; back after a long time is Highway 61 Revisited. After a few changes, this is the final standard set list: 1. Things Have Changed; 2. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right; 3. Highway 61 Revisited; 4. Beyond Here Lies Nothin'; 5. Dylan starts with a spring leg of 27 concerts in Europe. The Sinatra-covers are almost gone. Most of the time Dylan stays behind the piano, again no harp is played.
After a few changes this is the standard set list: 1. Things Have Changed; 2. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right; 3. Highway 61 Revisited; 4. Simple Twist Of Fate; 5. Duquesne Whistle; 6. Melancholy Mood (Bob center stage); 7. Honest With Me; 8. Tryin' To Get To Heaven; 9. Come Rain Or Come Shine (Bob center stage); 10. Pay In Blood; 11.Tangled Up In Blue; 12. Early Roman Kings; 13. Blowin' In The Wind; 20. Ballad Of A Thin Man.
The summer tour: 15 concerts in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Almost gone are the Sinatra tunes. Back is All Along The Watchtower, long time a closer, in Seoul the opener. Bob picked up the guitar by times and played harp again.
The fall tour: a long run, 42 shows in October, November and December in the US. Again a lot of songs in totally new arrangements. Missing in the band is Stu Kimball on rhythm guitar, no one replaced him.
